The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has provided equipment for the detection of synthetic diamonds to the Diamond Dealers Club of South Africa. South Africa was the third country to receive specialized equipment GIA, developed for the diamond industry.
At the end of last year, the GIA, together with the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), announced its intention to provide 28 WFDB members free of charge to supply this equipment in order to facilitate the identification of synthetic diamonds.
Chairman of the Club of Diamond Dealers of South Africa Ernie Blom (Ernie Blom) on behalf of his organization accepted the gift of the GIA. Blom thanked the GIA for assistance and assured that the equipment received will be used for its intended purpose. "This initiative is part of the active strategy of the participants in the global diamond industry aimed at ensuring consumer confidence in diamonds," Blom said.
