As part of this initiative, IIDGR will provide GJEPC with modern Automated Melee Sorting (AMS) devices. It is expected that these devices will be delivered to GJEPC within the next three months and will go to the Diamond Detection and Resource Center (DDRC) at the Gemmological Institute of India (GII), which is located in the building of the Indian diamond exchange (Bharat Diamond Bourse, BDB).
DDRC is funded by GJEPC and BDB.
At a symposium held on 4 February in Mumbai, Dr. P. Martineau, representing IIDGR, described the origins of natural diamonds and the appearance of synthetic diamonds, and clarified the questions about the scope of the three tools for determining synthetic stones produced with using high temperature and high pressure treatment (HPHT), - DiamondSure, DiamondView & DiamondPlus. These devices will appear at the GJEPC until the end of April.
GII is the first and leading Indian institute that launched educational programs in gemology and provided a large number of qualified personnel for the jewelery and jewelry industry.
