Gemological Institute of America (GIA) transferred to the Indian Diamond Exchange (Bharat Diamond Bourse, BDB) its latest development - the DiamondCheck device. The presentation ceremony was attended by GIA President and CEO Susan Jacques, Executive Vice President and Head of the Laboratory and Research Division Tom Moses and Managing Director of the GIA in India and the Middle East countries Nirupa Bhatt.
The Diamond Check device will be located at the Diamond Detection and Resource Center (DDRC), located on the Indian Diamond Exchange (BDB). DDRC provides BDB members with the opportunity to inspect their polished parties without investing in equipment purchases.
BDB President Anoop Mehta said that "identifying and disclosing information" are two critical aspects when it comes to synthetic diamonds.
The GIA device will help strengthen the position of DDRC and guarantee correct and accurate classification and evaluation of diamonds, and refer them to the category of natural or synthetic.
