The Royal Decree on the transportation of valuables, which entered into force on September 1, 2014, was amended. As a result, an unrestricted and license-free private transportation of diamonds by diamantaires and their personnel, diamond cutters and diamond dealers was again possible.
Intensive discussions between the Cabinet of the Minister of the Interior, the Office for the Protection of Private Security of the Federal State Internal Affairs Service and the Antwerp World Diamond Center (AWDC) led to an adjustment of the decree on the transportation of valuables.
Accordingly, in the case of personal transportation of goods worth more than 150,000 euros, it is no longer necessary to hire a company certified and licensed to transport valuables.
The AWDC always advises trade representatives to think about safety, avoid fixed routes and exercise extreme caution when transporting valuable goods.
