Representatives of leading gemmological laboratories will meet with leaders of the jewelry industry on May 6, 2015 in Salvador, Brazil, for a special conference to be held on the first day of the World Jewelery Confederation (CIBJO) congress, the theme of which will be standards and methods of work used by gemological laboratories in the industry, as well as the quality of reports issued by them. In particular, the conference will discuss the departure from the standards and results prevailing in the industry.
"Over the past twenty years, the changing business environment and the evolution of consumer expectations have made laboratory certification of diamonds, precious stones and pearls an integral part of trade," say CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri and CIBJO Vice President Roland Naftule. these reports are used universally, the standards and systems for which they are compiled are not universal. The discrepancies in the assessment, reporting, identification and identification of the country of origin are common in a number of oratorios, and sometimes within the same organization. This creates significant challenges for our trade, and if we can not cope with these problems, then this situation can seriously affect the confidence of customers at all levels. "
The conference participants will discuss the recommendation of CIBJO to establish an international committee of representatives of gemological laboratories from around the world to negotiate methods that will help in the creation of consistent and reliable gemological reports and certificates. In addition, the conference participants will also discuss the criteria for the comparative analysis of gemological laboratories, as well as a system of proceedings in complex issues.
