In the Angolan state diamond mining company, Endiama said that diamonds mined in the country will gradually be used to produce jewelry at local enterprises.
The Macauhub edition quotes Antonio Carlos Sumbula, president of the company, who said that the diamond cutting factory, which opened earlier this week, will also manufacture jewelry for the international market.
However, Sumbula did not inform who exactly from foreign partners will participate in this project.
The company is operated by Sociedade de Comercialização de Diamantes de Angola (Sodiam), a subsidiary of Endiama.
"First, jewelry products will be produced abroad, but gradually production will be localized in Angola," added Sumbula.
He also said that there was an interest in the sale of Angolan jewelry in Monaco and Cannes by some French companies.
Sumbula said that the government has already drawn up a "roadmap" for these purposes.
However, in the near future Endiama will be engaged in the construction of new cutting plants, as well as establishing partnerships for jewelry production, the president of the diamond mining company concluded.
