Work on the construction of Suratskoy Diamond Exchange (Surat Diamond Bourse, SDB) began on October 23 in the presence of Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijaya rupani (Vijay Rupani), as well as the Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel (Nitin Patel), government officials and representatives of the diamond industry, according to a a press release.
Exchange project is a part of the "Dream Town" (DREAM city), which is being implemented by the Government of Gujarat in the region Khadzhod near Surat. The construction of the SDB, is expected to be completed by 2019, after which the market will be put into operation.
Speaking on the occasion of the start of construction of the exchange, the Chief Minister said that the project will create about 150 000 jobs and contribute to the development of Surat, which is already the world's largest diamond manufacturing center. It is expected that the city will also be the world's trade cents. On the project area of over 36 hectares on the outskirts of the city will accommodate more than 4,000 offices, including shared objects, such as the sales area of self-service deposit vault, museums, banks, Customs, Trade Zone, the auction house, the security control room, etc.
