Lucapa Diamond and its Angolan partners in the joint company Sociedade Mineira do Lulo (SML) started commissioning of a new installation of modules on X-ray recess diamond project Lulo (Lulo). Installation will help the company extract individual diamonds weighing 1,100 carats at a processing plant with capacity of 150 tons of rock per hour.
On Lulo it was produced for more than 30 diamonds larger than 50 carats, 5 stones weighing over 100 carats.
In February, the company managed to get a diamond weighing 404 carats, which could sell for $ 16 million.
The Lucapa noted that SML has started to form rock dumps large fractions after removing the 404-carat stone.
Now the blades are 19 000 m³.
"In order to ensure continuity of the contents of diamonds and their source rock dumps will be processed with the use of X-ray technology in separate batches this way, we intend to process the entire breed of large fractions obtained in the framework of the daily mining operations.", - the company said.
