The responsible supply of diamonds will be the main topic of discussion during the seminar, which will be held by the Responsible Jewelery Council (RJC) within the framework of the Baselworld exhibition on March 27, the Council press service reported.
A seminar entitled "Responsible deliveries: As the new RJC Code of Conduct and key industry initiatives can support a responsible supply chain," representatives of diamond processing companies, retailers, current and future RJC members, and key players in the jewelry industry will gather.
Welcoming speech at the seminar will be delivered by the chairman of RJC James Courage (James Courage), as the moderator will be the interim CEO of RJC Catherine Sproule (Catherine Sproule), and in the discussion will be attended by various representatives of the industry. The seminar will address the problems of responsible supply throughout the chain - from production to retail sales - and discuss their solutions, as well as initiatives on conflict minerals and issues related to synthetic diamonds.
Participants will hear a speech by Fiona Solomon, RJC's director of standards development, who will summarize the main provisions of the RJC Code of Conduct, released in 2013, focusing on Provenance Claims and human rights monitoring.
Head of Trade Promotion at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) Hans-Peter Egler (Hans-Peter Egler) will discuss the supply programs with extractive companies.
