The joint venture of De Beers and Namibia's Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC), Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC), plans next year to contract with its sightholders for the supply of diamonds for a new period.
Bloomberg agency quoted the statement of NDTC General Director Shihaleni Ndjaba that at present the company has 12 sightholders who signed three-year contracts until 2015. NDTC will either renew their contracts, or replace some sightholders with other companies that have submitted relevant applications.
Njaba noted that if the company will increase sales of precious stones, the number of its sightholders is likely to increase.
"The number of sightholders will depend on the predicted indicators of the availability of rough diamonds for the next three years, so this figure may be increased or decreased," Ndjaba said.
