The man bought an egg with a clock inside on one of the "flea markets" of the Midwest about 10 years ago. He was attracted by precious stones and egg decorations. He paid about $ 15,000 for it. The buyer was going to resell a massive object for melting down, but the buyer found the price he proposed too high.
The egg lay in the kitchen of the buyer until 2012, until the man decided to check its value with the help of Google. He drove into the search engine the words "egg" and "Vacheron Constantin" (inscription on the clock that was inside the egg). As a result, the man got acquainted with the article published earlier in the English newspaper The Telegraph about the missing jewel. Then he immediately contacted Faberge Jewelry expert Kieran McCarthy, who called the unlucky treasure-hunter the true value of the find.
"I felt like I was Indiana Jones, who found the lost ark," the expert admitted. It turned out that the egg costs $ 33.25 million. According to the expert, the man at first did not believe his luck.
The golden egg, adorned with sapphires, was made by the jeweler Carl Faberge in 1887 for Empress Maria Feodorovna, the wife of Alexander III and mother of Nicholas II.
