According to the study, 73% of jewelry retailers reported an increase in sales of silver products in their stores. The share of jewelry from silver in the total number of items sold was 33%, which is equivalent to 29% of sales in value terms.
"Although we already had fragmentary information from the participants of our program that 2013 was exceptionally successful for them, it was nice to see more accurate quantitative results of this study. In addition, this is perhaps the most convincing figure I've seen in the past five years, "said Michael Barlerin, director of the Silver Promotion Service.
Sales of silver jewelry during the holiday period showed the highest level of margin - 36% - compared with diamond jewelry (28%), wedding (17%) and gold jewelry (13%).
