The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (the WFDB) has informed about the important agenda of the forthcoming plenary session of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KP) 13-17 November in Dubai (UAE).
KP continues to play an important role in preventing the trade in diamonds from conflict zones. KP members are fully committed to support the vital work of the organization, said WFDB President Ernie Blom (Ernie Blom).
"The Kimberley process for more than a decade played a crucial role in the fight against conflict diamonds, the share of which has been reduced to less than 0.2% of the total global supply," - said Blom. According to him, "it is extremely important because the diamond industry has demonstrated to consumers and to governments around the world that it is committed to the elimination of this scourge."
«WFDB and its exchanges and members around the world were involved in the KP since, like that body was established in 2003 with assistance from the World Diamond Council (WDC), the founder of which we are a part. The Board represents the Federation and the general meetings of the diamond industry in the Kimberley Process. We fully trust the KP and WDC », - said Blom.

De Beers was forced to stop exploration on a branch of the Tango (Tango) next to mine, Victor (Victor) on the Attawapiskat River kimberlite field (Attawapiskat) in Ontario because of opposition from local residents, IDEX Online reported with reference to CBC News.
De Beers had hoped to explore the field of Tango, which is located near the Victor Mine in the James Bay lowland areas in the north of Ontario, and to determine the feasibility of their development.
Indian community Attawapiskat River (Attawapiskat First Nation) was divided in its attitude to the project. At the request of the great leader of the tribes of the Council (Mushkegowuk Grand Chief) Solomon Jonathan (Jonathan Solomon), De Beers Canada filed an unfair ultimatum community. "It is either" yes "or" no "... or" no Tango "- he wrote.
According to De Beers Canada, if the implementation of the work will be postponed until next winter, it is likely to encounter delays in the production organization after the scheduled 2018 closure Victor mine, which would increase the cost of the project at the Tango. The company said that the additional costs due to possible delays in mining activities need to consider before deciding how to proceed.
